Five high schoolers report to school on a Saturday morning. A jock, an influencer, a nerd, an activist, and a rebel – the group seems to have nothing in common except their punishment. Locked up in detention for eight hours under the supervision of the miserable Mr Thatcher, with people they would never normally choose to speak to, the teens are forced to confront their feelings about themselves, and each other.
The Detention Squad is a new play written and directed by Dee Omar. It is inspired by the cult classic movie The Breakfast Club, but is a new story with modern characters and issues for today’s audience.
