Workshop with Shilpee Theatre from Nepal
Try Augusto Boals method "Theatre of the Oppressed" to address sociopolitical issues around you!

Shilpee Theatre Group from Kathmandu, Nepal, is touring three countries in Europe! With their tour the group aims to share knowledge between two different parts of the world: learning from one another, fostering mutual understanding, and discovering inclusiveness through creative exchange.
Theatre is a mirror of our society, our lifestyle and our stories. It is not only fun to be a part of theatre but its methods also enrich us as human beings. During Shilpee Theatre’s tour in Europe they are performing two different plays across 9 cities and conducting workshops based on Augusto Boals teachings (see below) and his main method ”Theatre of the Oppressed” and forum theatre. Shilpee Theatre Group is a professional theatre organisation established since 2006 in Kathmandu as a national NGO. It aims to promote theatre as a culture integrated into our daily life.

Arguably Augusto Boal’s most academically influential work is the Theatre of the Oppressed, in which the reader follows Boal’s detailed analysis of the Poetics of Aristotle and the early history of Western theatre. Boal contends that the Aristotelian ethic means oppressing the masses, the people, the workers and the spectators in favour of stability and the continued dominance of a privileged few.” Read more
